LoDi-WiB-A v2

The LoDi-WiB-A v2 is a high-quality lighting board for running model railway vehicles in analogue and digital mode.
The board can be used universally and is suitable for almost all gauges and vehicle types.
An integrated potentiometer lets the brightness be set individually and matched perfectly to the model at hand.
Its current draw is very low at under 15 mA, allowing safe operation even with several boards installed.
The WiB-A v2 offers the option of integrating a buffer capacitor directly on the board.
With a 330 µF electrolytic capacitor, flicker-free lighting of up to 1.5 seconds is achieved.
The 2026 version uses a new generation of LEDs from Würth Elektronik, which stand out for their particularly even illumination, high efficiency and long life.
Available in two light colours: Daylight 5000 K for modern lighting, Sunrise 2700 K for warm, incandescent-like light.
Features of the LoDi-WiB-A v2
Simple installation, optimised for vehicles with full RailCom capability.
- A lighting board for coaches up to 27 centimetres long
- In 2 colours: Daylight 5000 K for modern lighting, and Sunrise 2700 K for warm, incandescent-like light.
- The board can be shortened at several points
- The separated parts of the board can be used further
- The brightness can be set with a potentiometer
- Very low current draw, <15 mA
- Power transfer across the board (up to 5 poles)
If you can solder and have already lit one coach or another, the conversion should come easily to you.

1. Connections on the LoDi-WiB-A v2
There are a number of solder points on the LoDi-WiB-A v2, which we explain here: the red and blue arrows mark IN1 and IN2.
This is where the board is supplied with power.
In most cases from the front and the back; the many connection options arise from the board being separable. Unlike version 1, the new board is now white.
All pads are labelled on the front of the board. Here is an overview of the designations: IN1 = rail, IN2 = rail, U+ = the board's positive conductor, LED+ = output for the tail light (series resistor included)
GND = ground of the lighting board, Elko + and − = connection for an electrolytic capacitor

The back of the board offers the option of transferring power through 3 further poles in the coach.
With powered vehicles or rakes with current-carrying couplings in particular, power can be passed on here as well.
Up to 5 poles can be carried.
In the diagram these are marked with the pink arrows.

On the LoDi-WiB-A v2 there are 3 connections at which you can integrate one or more electrolytic capacitors.
You can use electrolytic capacitors from 100 µF at 35 volts.
With a 330 µF 35-volt capacitor, up to 1.5 seconds can be bridged.

!!! CAREFUL !!!
An electrolytic capacitor always has a polarity, +/−; this has to be observed and is marked on the LoDi-WiB-A v2. Reversing the polarity can destroy both the capacitor and the board.
You can of course also hide the capacitor in the coach and connect it to the board with wires.
2. The length of the LoDi-WiB-A v2
You should choose the right length for the board; it can vary depending on the coach.
The LoDi-WiB-A v2 was designed for coaches up to 27 centimetres long. The board can however be separated very easily at the prepared markings with a pair of side cutters and matched perfectly to the coach length at hand.

The LoDi-WiB-A v2 can be separated within the areas marked green here.
Please note that the side carrying the electronic components cannot be cut down any further.
The minimum length is therefore 7.75 cm.

3. Setting the brightness on the LoDi-WiB-A v2
On the LoDi-WiB-A v2 there is a potentiometer with which the brightness can be set. Use a small cross-head or flat screwdriver for that and turn slowly to the right for brighter, or to the left to make the light darker.

4. Connecting a tail light
Additional loads such as a tail light can be connected to the LoDi-WiB-A v2. Two red LEDs can be connected in series, for instance; the necessary series resistor is already on the board and does not have to be added.
On the LoDi-WiB-A there is a GND for the LED's negative pole and a LED+ for its positive pole on every section.

5. Using separated boards further
The separated or cut-off parts of the board do not have to be thrown away; the board already carries solder pads for connection to a DC voltage from an accessory decoder or a locomotive decoder, for instance. They are excellently suited to lighting houses, platforms or coaches switched through a decoder.

For that, U+ and GND are connected to a power source, preferably DC.
6. Technical data
Dimensions of the LoDi-WiB-A
Length: 26.9 mm. Width: 11 mm. Board thickness: 1.55 mm. Overall height: 8 mm. Weight: 16 grams. Colour: Daylight 5000 K and Sunrise 2700 K. The LoDi-WiB-A v2 can be run on AC and DC analogue as well as digital voltage. It lights from 7 volts and can be loaded up to a maximum of 25 volts.
