LoDi-S88-Booster

Sometimes there simply is not enough current. . .
The S88 bus is probably the simplest way of carrying feedback information from the layout to the PC or the command station.
Unfortunately, with too many modules or cables that are too long, the load on the bus becomes too great and reporting and transmission grow unstable.
That is why we developed the LoDi-S88-Booster.
It boosts the current, takes in the modules' data and reconditions it in real time, then passes it on cleanly and without degradation to the interface.
Features of the LoDi-S88-Booster
- It supplies the current needed for further feedback modules or occupancy detectors.
- Each booster allows another 12 S88 bus components to be run.
- The LoDi-S88-Booster does not only boost the current; it takes in the data received, refreshes it and drives it out anew. Even larger installations can therefore be run easily.
- With a power supply, or connected directly to a model railway transformer.
- Usable with S88.2 and s88N, and through the LoDi-S88 adapter with the old 6-pin s88 bus as well.

1. The LoDi-S88-Booster and its connections

The LoDi-S88-Booster is needed for larger installations. If the number of modules on a bus exceeds ten, the bus can start to misbehave. A LoDi-S88-Booster should then be inserted.
- (1) The bus coming from the last LoDi-Operator connects here.
- (2) Here you connect further LoDi-Operators in your system.
2. LEDs on the LoDi-S88-Booster

The LoDi-S88-Booster has two LEDs to help you read the state of the device and understand faults more quickly.
- (1) S88 IN: the LED lights as soon as the power supply is connected. It signals that the booster is ready and that power is present.
- (2) S88 OUT: the bus towards the interface connects here. Once that is connected and the interface is running, this LED should be lit.
3. Connecting the USB power supply

The LoDi-S88-Booster is available in two versions.
The USB power supply version comes with a high-quality USB supply included.
4. Connecting a model railway transformer

The LoDi-S88-Booster in the version connected to a model railway transformer.
Here you have the option of connecting a common model railway transformer to your LoDi-S88-Booster.
It can be run on DC or AC. The voltage range is 12–24 volts DC or AC.
5. Connecting to the S88.2, s88N and s88 bus
In the picture you can see the interface; in this example a LoDi-S88-Commander is fitted.
A different interface can be used just as well. ANY s88 bus can be boosted.

The picture below shows an S88.2 bus fully built out. Depending on the interface and the S88.2, s88N and s88 modules connected, the maximum bus length can vary.

6. Technical data
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Dimensions | Length 8.9 cm |
| Width | 10 cm |
| Height | 3.5 cm |
| Weight | 83 grams |
Permissible from 12 to 24 volts DC or AC.
Loadable by consumers with 1 ampere.
Through the AC/DC terminal on the LoDi-S88-Booster the supply voltage can be carried on to the next decoder. The current may be at most 10 amperes.
